APNC12013 Planning for Sustainability
Objective
To develop a comprehensive understanding of sustainable planning principles and procedures that need to be highly emphasized in planning and development in the modernization, and globalization context.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the student will be able
- to define Sustainability, Sustainable Development, and Sustainability Planning.
- to assess the impacts on three Es due to the development initiatives.
- to debate on the principles of neutralizing the balance between the fundamental needs of increasing population and sustainability.
- to discuss the significance of social, environmental and economic justice in the planning initiative.
• evaluate the sustainability initiatives in different levels of planning.

1. Definition of Sustainability and Sustainable Development,
2. Theory of Sustainability Planning,
3. Planning and Three Es,
4. Issues of Sustainability Planning,
5. Tools for Sustainability Planning,
6. Planning for Social,
7. Environmental and Economic Justice, and a sustainable future,
8. Planning for sustainable communities,
9. Planning for Sustainability at Site, Neighborhood, Local, Regional, National, and International contexts.

Assessment Methods
- 70% marks will be given for semester examination which will be held at the end of the semester
- 30% will be given for in-course assessments which include tutorial writing, individual and group, and presentation, field examination
